Dow leads the way
The major US stock indices are opening mixed:
- The Dow industrial average leads the way with a gain of 95 points or 0.39%. The index closed at a record level yesterday, so anything today will be another record
- the S&P 500 index is currently trading near on changed at up 0.60 points or 0.02%. Like the Dow, it close at a record level yesterday.
- The NASDAQ composite index is the laggard. It trades down -12.6 points or -0.18%.
In the US debt market, yields are up a touch from earlier levels at the start of the New York session
- two-year 1.841%, +2.2 basis points
- five-year 2.173%, +1.7 basis points
- 10 year 2.401%. +1.2 basis points
- 30 year 2.787%, +1.1 basis point
Gold is trading at $1240, down about two dollars. That is near five-month lows.
The price of oil has come back down. The Scottish minister said he sees no threat to gas supplies from the Fotries pipeline outage.
