Overview

Quick Look

Tickmill Group started back in 2014 and since that time it has experienced a steady growth. That's most likely due to the favorable trading conditions and excellent support that its clients can benefit from.

Tickmill's excellent trading conditions have also been recognized by multiple independent awards, rewarding the low spreads and commissions structure of the broker.

The group is regulated across five different jurisdictions, including tier-one regulation from the Financial Conduct Authority in the U.K.

Tickmill has seen great growth over the past six years because it knows how to treat its clients. With some of the lowest spreads in the industry, the broker also boasts some of the fastest execution and does no requotes. Tickmill knows what traders want particularly well since the management team has trading experience stretching all the way back to the 1980s.

In other words, Tickmill was created by traders as a perfect venue for traders. They offer a direct ECN trading environment, and top-tier liquidity. Besides being excellent for the everyday trader, the broker has also become highly regarded by scalpers and automated trading clients thanks to the very fast execution and the tight spreads.

Tickmill is highly regarded in the forex industry and has put itself forward as an innovator and leader in the online broker space.

Regulations

As mentioned above, Tickmill is regulated in five different jurisdictions. The regulating authority depends on which Tickmill entity is the counterparty for the trader. This is dependent on the location of the trader.

In the U.K. the regulation is from the Financial Conduct Authority under the license number 09592225. European clients fall under the regulation of the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission with the license number 278/15. International clients receive regulation under the Financial Services Authority of Seychelles with the registration number 09369927.

In addition to these three regulatory authorities, Tickmill Group also trades under Tickmill Asia Ltd, with the regulation from the Labuan Financial Services Authority of Malaysia under the license number MB/18/0028, and as Tickmill South Africa (Pty) Ltd., with the regulation by the Financial Sector Conduct Authority of South Africa under the license number FSP 49464.

The regulated entities of Tickmill Group hold the client funds in segregated bank accounts with top international banks.

In addition to those protections, every trader at Tickmill also benefits from a negative balance protection, which protects clients from losses due to extreme market volatility that are larger than their investment.

Account types

Tickmill is offering three account types offered by Tickmill, which is somewhat refreshing in an industry where some brokers will offer eight different accounts with changing levels of service at each tier. At Tickmill clients can choose between Classic, Pro, and VIP account.

The Classic and Pro accounts both have a low $100 minimum deposit. The Classic account follows an STP mechanism, with no commissions, but variable spreads starting at 1.6 pips. The Pro account uses ECN fulfillment with spreads as low as 0, and a 2 units (depending on currency) commission per side.

Moving up, the VIP level lowers the commission to just 2 units per round trade, but also requires a balance of $50,000.

Tickmill also has free demo accounts and an Islamic account open that gives traders of Islamic faith an account free from swaps. In addition to these, traders can also take advantage of social trading via Myfxbook.

Leverage on all European and UK accounts is 30:1 . The maximum leverage for all other entities is 500:1.

Trading Platforms

MetaTrader 4

Tickmill offers its clients the tried and tested MetaTrader 4 platform. We think that’s a good choice, particularly since the broker offers the desktop, web trader, and mobile versions of the platform. Some new traders complain that the MT4 user interface is dated, but we say it’s charting at its best.

With the MetaTrader 4 trading app provided by Tickmill, users can:

  • View real-time quotes.
  • Trade directly from the chart.
  • Access over 30 indicators, with more available for download.
  • Take advantage of the powerful Expert Advisors.

MetaTrader 4 is an excellent choice as a trading platform, especially since Tickmill is focused on forex trading. That’s what MT4 was built for, and there’s no better platform for technical analysis, order entry, and order management.

CQG Platform

When it comes to trading Exchange listed Futures, Tickmill provides clients with CQG’s industry leading trading solution for access to Global markets. The platform provides fast and reliable order routing via worldwide, co-located CQG hosted Exchange gateways, superior market data visualisation with easy to use features and over one hundred studies for extensive and informed technical analysis trading.

Tickmill in-house developed trading platform profiles created to suit traders’ trading style and save valuable time setting up. Desktop solutions are available for desktop-based traders and a mobile app for on-the-go traders needing easy access to the global markets.

Tickmill adds some additional tools such as the Autochartist plugin that helps to detect chart patterns and emerging price action patterns. With it traders can define their own custom scans to locate the best trading opportunities. Live account holders get access to Autochartist for free. Demo account holders also get access for free, but there is a delay of five candlesticks when using Autochartist in a demo account.

And for those using automated trading and expert advisors Tickmill offers a 20% discount on VPS packages through BeeksFX.

Banking

Banking is kept simple and free of excess fees at Tickmill. Clients can fund accounts in four different currencies (EUR, GBP, PLN, or USD), and there are nearly a dozen funding methods which include bank wires, credit/debit cards, and popular electronic wallet services like Neteller. Tickmill charges no deposit fees and in most cases deposits are instantly available to trade.

Tickmill Banking

Withdrawals are handled in much the same way, with no additional fees charged by Tickmill. There are fees in some cases from the third-parties, and delays can occur due to banking regulations.

Customer Service

Tickmill offers multi-language customer support in 16 different languages 24 hours, 5 days a week. Note that 24/5 support is only applicable for email and contact form. Telephone and online chat hours are as follows:

Seychelles: Monday through Friday from 7:00 to 16:00 GMT

Malaysia: Monday through Friday from 8:00 to 17:00 MST

Phone: +852 5808 2921 (Seychelles) or +6087 504 565 (Malaysia)

In Conclusion

As a broker founded in 2014 and regulated by five different jurisdictions, including the Financial Conduct Authority in the U.K., we know that Tickmill is doing something right. That’s why there are over 160,000 clients trading with the broker.

We also find it interesting that Tickmill has grown so large so quickly without offering hundreds of assets to trade. They have clearly focused on the forex markets, and it’s clear that traders are fine with that as long as they continue receiving excellent treatment from the broker.

Clients can trade using the world-class MetaTrader 4 platform and CQG, and they can also take advantage of research and market commentary from the staff of eleven analysts who regularly update the Tickmill blog. Traders are also offered a Tickmill VPS service, Autochartist and a range of other educational materials.

Ultimately, we would happily trade with Tickmill, especially if we were most interested in trading forex with a fair and proven broker.
