Here's a preview of the European Central Bank meeting coming up on Thursday this week
Yes, the European Central Bank. UK readers can look away now, expression of disgust on the face optional :-D
- Meeting on 21 July
- Announcement will be at 1145GMT (yes that's right, Greenwich, in ENGLAND! the place where timekeeping is based. Deal with it you EU commies!)
- Head of the bank, Mario Draghi will hold a press conference 45 minutes later, at 1230GMT (glitter optional)
This is gonna be a quickie. Expectations are nearly unanimous that there will be no added action from the ECB at this meeting, although there are many expecting more stimulus measures by the end of the year.
At his presser, Draghi is expected to call for more fiscal action to take the strain off central banks efforts to help economies (BTW - expect this theme at the G20 meeting in China this week too, if they can spare a few minutes from bitchin' about Brexit that is). he may make reference about more QE actions still to come; in short, he is unlikely to sound hawkish.
