Here's a handy little summary from BNP on who's doing what in the world of central banking:
- The majority of the world's central banks remain on hold as they mull their next policy steps. A few are poised to move.
- Others still have a bias to ease, due to concerns over low inflation and/or currency appreciation (Sweden, Norway, China, India, Russia and Hungary, for example).
- Others have pledged to hold policy steady, in the hope that stronger growth may help put inflation on a sustainable path (Poland, for instance).
- And then there are the exceptions, which are either raising rates (Brazil) or signalling future rate hikes, though not immediately, such as the US Fed.
