There’s former BOJ deputy governor Kazumasa Iwata who, up until now, has been one of the front runners (and still is).
There’s also Kikuo Iwata, a university professor who, up until now had been considered a dark horse in the race. According to the article in Mainichi, he is back in the running, with supporters who are close to PM Abe.
