Consensus of +2.0% still within the BOC range

The Bank of Canada offered a tip to trading today's December and fourth quarter GDP data:

"In Canada, recent consumption and housing indicators suggest growth in the fourth quarter of 2016 may have been slightly stronger than expected."

The BOC forecast for Q4 annualized in the latest MPR was 1.5%.

The consensus estimate for today's data is +2.0% q/q annualized so that's very much within a 'slightly' stronger band.

The numbers are due out at the top of the hour.
