Bank of Italy board backs Visco for BOI Governor

Suddenly Italy is the most powerful country in regard to the operation of the ECB.

The president, a member of the managing board (Bini-Smaghi, who refuses to resign) and Visco will be looking after Italian interests, one can assume, on the governing council. A potentially scary situation if Italy spins further out of control.
