ECB provides further flexibility to banks on coronavirus

The European Central Bank will give further flexibility in the prudential treatment of loans back by public support.  This is an accounting rule change that will give banks more flexibility so they don't have to liquidate safe assets that a trading at dislocated levels.

The central bank also encouraged banks to avoid excessive procyclical effects when applying the IFRS 9 standard.
