President of the Chicago Federal Reserve branch Charles Evans spoke in HK today.
Adds to his earlier comments this on the yield curve:
- We have to be nervous when the yield curve gets flat
Earlier posts can be found here:
- Fed Evans again - will take action if inflation undershoots
- More from Fed's Evans - does not see a rate hike until H2 of 2020
- Fed's Evans says the US economy is in a strong position
Also, if you'd like a bit of a recap some of the major wires have posted (I picked out the major points):
- Softening his tone from a few months ago, Evans, who votes on interest rate policy this year, said monetary policy was neither accommodative, nor restrictive at this point.
- Interest-rate increase in the U.S. until next year, probably in the second half
- Evans, wants to see more evidence of higher inflation before nudging benchmark rates upward
