Geopolitical comments from Pres. Trump

Pres Trump and Canada PM Trudeau
Pres. Trump is holding a informal press conference with Canada PM Trudeau, and the Iran drone issue is a key topic of discussion. On Iran he has said:

  • Drone was when armed and was clearly over international waters, says it would have made a big difference if there was a person inside
  • asked if he was still open to talking with Iran, says let's see what happens
  • it could have been someone who was loose and stupid who shot US drone down
  • he does not feel like his administration is pushing him toward conflict and in some cases it's just the opposite
  • calls Iran's shooting down of US drone a new fly in the ointment
Earlier when asked what his response would be to the drone being shot down, said "You'll find out soon". That comment sent stocks lower, on concerns that there would be a military action.   However, it seems from these comments that he/the administration is not leaning that way.

On USMCA agreement:
  • Expects will be passed soon. Believes Pelosi will do the right thing
  •  Thanks Mexicans AMLO for doing great job on US-Mexico border
  • Fed Chair will eventually do what's right
  • Meeting set up with Xi at G20
