If you answered former Federal Reserve Chair Janet Yellen, well done you!

Yellen speaking Monday (US time):

  • "If there is a downturn in the global economy and that spills into the U.S. ... It's very possible we may have seen the last interest rate hike of this cycle,"

Its a useful comment from an insider (admittedly a former insider but Y remains very well connected and is a wise analyst indeed). Has there, or will be a further, downturn in the global economy? Yesterday's data from China certainly highlight the probability:

More from the Yellen report:

  • "Perhaps another rate hike or two is perfectly possible, but nothing is baked in,"
  • Yellen added that she expects the Fed to "take a breather [to] evaluate where the economy is" before it moves again.

(ps. although I said she is short I really have no idea on her positioning at all, K?)
