Derek Tai-Ching Kan is a business executive and government official who currently serves as the Under Secretary of Transportation for Policy.
Prior to assuming his current role there, he was the general manager of Lyft. Prior to that, Kan served on the Board of Directors for Amtrak, was director of strategy at a startup in Silicon Valley, and also worked as a management consultant at Bain and Company.
He also served as a policy advisor to Senate Republican Mitch McConnell and as the chief economist for the Senate Republican policy committee. Finally, he was a presidential management fellow at the White House Office of Management and Budget.
