CB speakers (Yellen and Draghi), Durable goods

With the forex markets getting quiet, what are some of the major events/releases that might move the market in the new trading day ahead.

  • API oil inventories later today. That data will leak out after released to subscribers but you won't hear it here first.
  • RBA Asst. Gov. Edey will speak at 8:20 PM ET/0020 GMT
  • In Switzerland the UBS consumption indicator will be released at 2 AM ET/0600 GMT (last 1.32). Also at that time the GfK German consumer confidence for October is expected to remain unchanged at 10.2
  • BOE MPC member Shafik is scheduled to speak at Bloomberg Markets most influential summit in London. Shafik recently announced that she will be leaving the BOE in February to run the London School of Economics
  • In the US, Durable goods orders for August will be released. The expectations are for a decline of -1.4% after a 4.4% gain last month. Ex transportation the expectation is -0.5% vs 1.3% gain last month. The report will be released at 8:30 AM ET/1230 GMT
  • Fed Chair Yellen is to testify on supervision and regulation before the committee on financial services in Washington DC. Her testimony is to begin at 10 AM ET/1400 GMT
  • Feds Bullard his do to deliver opening remarks at the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis conference (at 10:10 AM ET/1410 GMT)
  • ECB Draghi is due to speak about current developments in the euro area at the German Bundestag in Berlin. His scheduled remarks are expected to begin at 10:30 AM ET, 1430 GMT.
  • Weekly crude oil inventories will be released at 10:30 AM ET. Also headline from Algeria summit can be expected.
