API crude oil inventories for the week ended June 25

US crude stocks rise by 1.9 mln barrels (1.875 mln to a few more decimals ....)

Note - This data is out earlier to API subscribers (at 4.30pm ET) and released publicly at 4.35pm ET

The API data is closely watched as its thought to give an idea of the EIA data due tomorrow morning (US time).
The 'expected' for the data from EIA tomorrow is -1.781mln bbls for US Crude Oil Inventories

Traders will have noted the dip in price from 4.30pm, when the data is released to API subscribers. The inventory build was a surprise, expectations were for a draw.

  • Crude inventories rose by 1.875 million barrels
  • Crude stocks at Cushing fell by 19,000 barrels
  • Refinery crude runs rose by 77,000 barrels per day
  • Gasoline stocks rose by 334,000 barrels
  • Distillate fuels stockpiles rose by 263,000 barrels
