They are the masters of a launch even when you are just ordering
Orders for the new Apple watch are "going great" according to Apple CEO Tim Cook. Love them or hate them, Apple knows how to pre-prelaunch a product, pre launch it and launch it.
Moreover, they know how to get developers to make their products better - creating business in the process.
Then just when you are getting used to it, they will make it thinner. They will make it faster. They will add functionality and will figure out how to have it stay charged longer. They might even give you a $50 incentive to get the newer version. They will make it the "go to" Christmas/birthday present and will fill their coffers with even more money.
You will be locking your house, opening up your car door, paying your bills/doing your banking. changing your thermostats, ordering your favorite take out, or making reservations, scheduling your hair appointments, scrolling through football scores and news headlines, feeding the dog, letting them out the doggy door, DVRing your favorite shoes, even trading currencies and stocks. You would likely be able to do most of these things by taking out your phone, but you won't have to "take out" your phone. It will likely be simpler. easier, more to the point. More customized to you and your stuff. It is connected to you.
