Asian shares are mostly higher today, supported by overnight gains on Wall St.
In Sydney the ASX200 is up 0.5%, with the miners RIO and BHP helped by a report that China has backed down on Iron Ore negotiations. BHP up1.6% and RIO up 1%.
The Nikkei is flat as caution sets in ahead of US jobs data and traders are reporting institutional flows are virtually non-existent. Sumitomo Metals is up 4.3% , Hitachi up 4.4% after a report in the Nikkei daily that the company will be boosting production of lithium batteries for hybrid cars.
HK’s Hang Seng is the outperformer in the region, up 1.5% after coming back from holidays yesterday.
