Australia and China relations have been a little rocky lately

Australia is now requesting China to allow foreign minister, Julie Bishop, to visit the country - in a bid to calm things down.

Diplomatic relations between the two countries are facing a stiff test as tensions are growing. It's not something that impacts markets directly, but in general could have a consequence should it boil down to possible ties on trade.

Most recently, China denied visas to Australian journalists on the grounds of "frosty" diplomatic relations. That's never a good sign. China of course is a little unhappy that Australia looks to push forward with a bill to counter foreign interference - which is mainly directed at the Chinese government.

While things are unlikely to reach the extent where economic ties are impacted, China surely will be the least bit happy that they have something like this to put up with when they're already facing troubles against the US on the trade front.
