Australia - government plans an extra $25/week in unemployment benefits

The temporary 'Jobseeker' unemployment benefit supplement is coming to an end.

Australia's federal government is planning to make an extra $25 payment permanent.

The current jobless payment is woeful, this is barely much of an improvement but at the margin its nevertheless a boost. 

For markets its an indication the fiscal cliff will not be quite so dramatic when the coronavirus supplement expires at the end of March.
