Australian banks are beginning, slowly, to tighten lending to property investors
ANZ Bank has "made changes to its investor lending policy effective immediately"
- No discretionary pricing will be available for investor only lending
NAB also says it is reducing discounts ... "We have certainly tightened up on discretions on investor housing as compared to owner-occupiers"
Bankwest (a subsidiary of Commonwealth Bank of Australia):
- Placed a loan-to-valuation ratio cap on investor mortgages of 80 per cent
- The LVR limit will mean that property investors will need to provide 20 per cent of the purchase price as equity in order to receive the loan
