The Australian employment jobs data for February is here
And, some quick thoughts from analysts around the place:
ANZ (Justin Fabo):
- ABS revised away 30,000 job gains since the start of 2013. 'Just' 230,000 net jobs added since then.
Shane Oliver (AMP):
- The trend remains up in umepmloyment as jobs growth (+1.3% yoy) is running below labour force growth (+1.7% yoy) and underutilisation rate rose to 15%
David Scutt (referring to the government commitment to creat 1 million jobs over 5 years):
- Updated with revisions. Pace of Australian job creation falling below that required to generate 1m jobs over 5 years
Jacob Greber (Australian Financial Review):
- Currency market giving today's jobs report a big "so what" stamp of indifference.
Stephen Koukoulas:
- Real GDP of 3.5% or so needed for a year and more to get unemployment rate back to 5.5% and below - we still are no where near that
