The Australian employment jobs data for February is here

And, some quick thoughts from analysts around the place:

ANZ (Justin Fabo):

  • ABS revised away 30,000 job gains since the start of 2013. 'Just' 230,000 net jobs added since then.

Shane Oliver (AMP):

  • The trend remains up in umepmloyment as jobs growth (+1.3% yoy) is running below labour force growth (+1.7% yoy) and underutilisation rate rose to 15%

David Scutt (referring to the government commitment to creat 1 million jobs over 5 years):

  • Updated with revisions. Pace of Australian job creation falling below that required to generate 1m jobs over 5 years

Jacob Greber (Australian Financial Review):

  • Currency market giving today's jobs report a big "so what" stamp of indifference.

Stephen Koukoulas:

  • Real GDP of 3.5% or so needed for a year and more to get unemployment rate back to 5.5% and below - we still are no where near that
