The Austrian interior ministry reports that the country has had 107 new coronavirus infections in the last 24 hours
Austria has been consistent in keeping the virus figures low over the past few months but this is the first time since mid-April that the daily case count exceeds the 100 mark.
What is particularly concerning is that this comes as border restrictions have been slowly lifted and we are seeing a restart of international travel into the European region.
The Austrian health minister has said that the new wave of infections today is "worrying" and the government has now issued travel warnings for Albania, Bosnia, Kosovo, Serbia, Montenegro, and North Macedonia.
They also reaffirm that they are maintaining all travel restrictions for non-EU countries.
