I thought Obama stood for hope and change? Then how come every time he comes on TV all he does is talk down the economy? For the second time today he has suggested a huge jump in unemployment on Friday, an unusual step for any president.
He’s trying to set the bar low so that if things don’t turn out so badly he can claim credit. As well, he is trying to pave the way for a huge stimulus package, but if he maintains this tone after the inauguration people may start to take him seriously which will only weigh more heavily on the economy.
