LONDON (MNI) – Bank of England Deputy Governor Paul Tucker, who
was passed over for the top job at the BOE, declined to say whether he
would serve out a full term.

Tucker was the hot favourite to be appointed as BOE Governor but
the job has gone to Bank of Canada head Mark Carney, throwing Tucker’s
future in doubt. At a press conference Thursday Tucker stonewalled when
asked about his future at the central bank.

Asked if he would serve out his full term until February 2014
Tucker said “I am the Deputy Governor for Financial Stability. I am
doing my job.”
