–BOE: Q4 HEW -Stg8.473bn Vs -Stg8.469 Q3

LONDON (MNI) – Net injections of equity by UK homeowners into their
properties were little changed in Q4 from Q3, at around stg8.5bn,
according to Bank of England data.

Equity injections in 2011 Q4 was stg8.473bn, in line with the
figure for 2011 Q3 – 8.469bn.

Housing Equit Withdrawal as a percentage of post-tax income was
-3.2% in 2011 Q4, unchanged from the percentage for 2011 Q3, the minus
sign indicating a net injection.

The BOE said that the fall off in Home Equity Withdrawal had been
associated more with a fall off in the number of house market
transactions as well as remortgaging activity. The BOE said that there
was no evidence that homeowners are paying off secured debt more quickly
than in the past.
