Cast votes are already enough for Johnson to get the PM nod
A Guardian survey of voting Tory members, shows that Boris Johnson already has enough cast votes to win the PM runoff over Jeremy Hunt.
That is not much of a surprise. The question is, will Hunt step down before the July 23 date.
The rules state that the
- candidate achieving more than 50 per cent of the vote among Party members will be declared Leader of the Party.
- The winner, and new Prime Minister, is expected to be announced on July 23.
- The following day, July 24, Theresa May will speak at her final Prime Minister's Questions before heading to Buckingham Palace to resign as Prime Minister to the Queen.
If I am not mistaken, that schedule can be sped up if Hunt would step out.
