The pound soars on the headline
This is being reported by BBC's Nicholas Watt, citing a leading Brexiteer source on the matter. If proven to be true, it would be a significant change in stance from the European Union and could just help to push May's agenda to win over parliament.
Cable ripped on the headlines from 1.3070 to a high of 1.3122 but is settling closer to 1.3100 now. I'm doubtful on this though unless it's coming from European official sources, it's hard to imagine them suddenly moving their red lines when it's crunch time now and when they have been drawing a hard line over an extension as of late.
