Markit data shows confidence about house prices lowest since 2009

Meanwhile, the household financial confidence index falls to a six-month low in December. Despite real wages showing significant signs of improvement, there isn't much of a knock-on effect to UK households it would seem.

Earlier in the day, we had more housing data and it wasn't that positive either with house prices falling by 1.5% in December, according to Rightmove data. If you recall back in September, the weight of Brexit uncertainty on the housing market outlook caused a bit of a stir that forced Carney to clarify the BOE's commentary on them.

Either way, as long as the Brexit fog isn't lifted, house prices in the UK - especially London - is still expected to slump and the outlook will grow more nervous as chances of a no-deal Brexit increase.
