Canada employment report for March.

- full-time employment change -6.4 K versus 5.4 K estimate. 67.4 K last month
- part-time employment change -0.9 K versus 7.0 K. -11.6 K last month
- Annual hourly wage gains came in at 2.4%. That was the fastest since September and up from 2.3% in February
- Hourly wage rate permanent employees year on year 2.3% versus 2.2% estimate
- job change was the 1st drop in 7 months
- -17.3 K drop in private sector jobs
- public-sector jobs increased slightly
- Healthcare accommodation led to job losses
- Québec and Ontarioso the largest declines with the combined loss of 21.7 K
- Canada's economy had added 290,000 jobs between August and February. That was the largest six-month increase since 2002
After two months of oversized gains, the employment change moderated (near unchanged). The employment rate was spot on. The wages were a little higher.
The USDCAD has moved down and back up and is higher than the pre-number levels at 1.3379. The better US jobs was better, but wages were lower in the US.
