Comments by China's foreign ministry
- US threats have been made in the past
- Chinese team is preparing to travel to Washington for trade talks
- Says that China's position on talks have been consistent, clear
Some goodwill coming out of China here as they officially confirm that they will be sending a delegation to the US for "talks". The foreign ministry refuses to confirm if vice premier, Liu He, will be joining though.
I reckon if that's the case, it means they will be sending a low-level delegation merely to appease the US for now as they look to save face following Trump's latest move.
USD/JPY has inched higher again on the headlines here, rising from 110.65 to 110.82 currently. AUD/USD is also nearing the 0.7000 handle once again as China takes a much calmer approach to the situation here.
