China's copper futures hit lowest since December 9

The highest volume copper contract on the Shanghai Futures Exchange is reflecting the headwinds confronting the base metal:

  • lockdown of some regions in China and Beijing impacting demand
  • the regular seasonal slowdown ahead of Chinese Lunar New Year
  • PMIs softening
  • credit tightening
Its not all bad news, inventories are low.
