-Clarifies Quote In Report Which Ran On Wires At 0720GMT
LONDON (MNI) – The Bank of England has clarified comments made by
BOE Executive Director Markets Paul Fisher in an interview with The Sun
newspaper published today.
In the original report in The Sun, Fisher was reported as saying
inflation would be around 2.5% for the next 2-3 years.
The BOE has since clarified this – the correct version of Fisher’s
remarks on the UK inflation outlook should read as follows:
“We are very seldom going to be actually at 2%, we’ll always be a
bit away and trying to bring it back. So our forecast has inflation
within this sort of range – either a bit above or a bit below – for the
next two or three years,” he said.
