The latest ComRes opinion poll in The Independent newspaper shows the Conservatives’ lead over Labour slipping to 12 points from previous 19 points. Gordon Brown is seen as the “best in a crisis” garnering 43% with David Cameron garnering 33%. Brown is also more trusted with the economy getting again 43% against Camerons’ 33% All I can say is that if Labour gets in for another term, that’s it, I’m off to join my sister living in India!!! Elsewhere cable is relatively steady, presently at 1.8045. The market is seemingly in a holding pattern as it waits to see what comes next in the U.S. bailout saga. U.S. Congress is closed until Thursday for the Rosh Hashanah Jewish holiday. Negotiators will be working frantically through the interim to come up with a solution to break the deadlock.
