FRANKFURT (MNI) – It is up to Ireland to decide if it will request
assistance from its European partners, European Central Bank Vice
President Vitor Constancio reiterated Wednesday.
The central bank is not pushing anyone to take a particular
decision, Constancio told reporters prior to his appearance on a panel
at Euro Finance Week here.
“We are not pushing anyone,” Constancio answered, when asked why
the ECB was pushing Ireland to accept a bailout. “As you know I have
said several times…that it is up to Ireland to decide on a request.”
