FRANKFURT (MNI) – European Central Bank Governing Council member
Yves Mersch reiterated on Wednesday that monetary policy
“concentrates on its mission of maintaining medium-term price
stability.”

The ECB’s objective must be to “anchor inflation expectations at a
level compatible with the inflation objective,” the Central Bank of
Luxembourg governor said at the presentation of the BCL’s bulletin. He
added that inflation risks remained “balanced overall.”

Mersch said the ECB’s non-standard policy measures were “by
construction, temporary.”
