FRANKFURT (MNI) – The Eurozone cannot survive without a clear
commitment to stability-oriented policies, European Central Bank
Governing Council member Jens Weidmann said on Tuesday.
Echoing comments from ECB President Mario Draghi on Friday,
Weidmann said the ECB must ensure that short-term crisis fighting
measures do not undermine the long-term credibility of the currency
union.
“Stability orientation is the basis without which the currency
union cannot exist in the long run. We must preserve the currency union
as a stability union,” the head of the Bundesbank said.
