Confidence readings to come from France and Germany

Comic 26-03

Good day, everyone! Hope you're all doing well as we move towards the European trading session in the hours ahead. It's been a bit of a quiet start to the day so far with Brexit headlines stealing the spotlight. The indicative votes amendment manages to make its way through and adds for more twists and turns in the ordeal seen in the UK parliament.

There's a couple of data releases to come in the next few hours in Europe but barring any major surprises, they should have a relatively minor impact on markets for today.

0700 GMT - Germany April GfK consumer confidence

Prior release can be found here. A reading that provides an indication of consumer confidence in economic activity. After the meltdown in recent German manufacturing data, focus on economic releases in the region have been heightened. That said, the release here is one of the less impactful ones but does contribute to overall sentiment.

0745 GMT - France March business, manufacturing confidence

Prior release can be found here. General indication of confidence levels towards the French economy. A minor data point but similar to the GfK survey above, it contributes to overall sentiment towards the Eurozone economy.

0745 GMT - France Q4 final GDP figures

The second estimate release can be found here. As these are final figures and pertaining to Q4, it's very much a non-event barring any major discrepancy from initial estimates.

0930 GMT - UK Finance February mortgage approvals

The data measures only a proportion of the demand in the UK housing market - those which are approved by High Street Banks in the UK. An indication of consumer credit and lending activity of the UK economy, not a major release by any means.

Aside from the releases above, we'll also have more central bank speakers to follow but I'll put them up in a separate post. I wish all of you the best of days to come and good luck with your trading!
