What's coming up on the calendar front today
Howdy, everyone! Hope you all had a good Christmas break. Markets are still lackluster - as it is during this week of the year. Ranges today are pretty decent as we're seeing the USD slump across the board in general.
Commodity currencies are leading the charge as we head into the final stretch of the year:
Anyway, liquidity is suffering so you can't really look too much into the moves to be honest. Here is what's coming up later in European trading today:
0700 GMT - Swiss November UBS consumption indicator
A consumer sentiment indicator of the economy, based on a couple economic indicators such as consumer confidence and spending.
0900 GMT - SNB sight deposits w.e. 22 Dec
Your weekly check of the deposits kept at the SNB by Swiss banks. This data point used to matter a bit more post-EUR/CHF floor removal, when people were looking for signs of intervention by the SNB - but we've all gotten used to that by now.
0900 GMT - Swiss December Credit Suisse investor sentiment
A general survey of institutional investors and analysts on their economic outlook for Switzerland - sentiment on economic activity etc. Another minor data point.
0930 GMT - UK Finance mortgage approvals
A rough indicator of UK housing market demand - as these are housing loans approved by High Street Banks in the UK. Not a very significant data point as it's not the full picture, but gives a general sentiment on the economy at least.
That's about it on the day. A couple of releases here and there, but generally should be a quiet one.
Hope all of you have a nice day ahead and good luck in your trading! For those who are on a break, happy holidays!
