BRUSSELS (MNI) – A report in the German press according to which
the EU is considering a major increase in the funds available to the
European Financial Stability Facility (EFSF) is not true, the EU
Commission told Market News International on Thursday.
Following a report by German daily Die Welt that the Commission is
pondering a doubling of the size of the EFSF in response to new
turbulence related to the situation in some Eurozone periphery
countries, the spokesperson for European Commissioner for Economic and
Financial Affairs Ollie Rehn branded the story as “absolutely not true.”
