The official doesn’t give any sort of timeframe as to exactly when he thinks Britain will join the euro and it flies in the face of recent comments made by the UK Governments’ Europe Minister Caroline Flint. She told The Independent on Sunday “We are prepared to look at the issues around the euro. This doesn’t mean, in principle, that we think we have a journey to the euro. Its about whether it would work for the British economy.”
While I’d never say never, it is almost inconceiveable a UK government would contenance embracing the euro in the foreseeable future. The government is presently very happy with its tumbling pound., thankyou very much.
