Deal formally approved
There was always a small chance that an EU government would veto the deal but that's not going to happen now.
With the approval, the EU and UK will be able to sign the agreement on Wednesday and will put a provisional agreement into force. Beyond that, European Parliament will need to ratify the final deal in February or March.
