Closing changes for the main European bourses
A wave of late selling dropped most markets to the lows of the day:

Italy MIB -1.7%
The global rout comes at a brutal time for Italian shares, which were trying to stabilize following weeks of pain. The MIB is at the lowest since March 2017. The index is also down 20% from the July highs, which is a technical bear market.
