German Dax rises 0.9%. Other indices have more modest gains.
The European major stock indices are closed for the day and there are mostly modest gains. The German Dax bucks the trend with a 0.9% gain.
The closing numbers show:
- German Dax, up 0.9%
- France's CAC, up 0.1%
- UK FTSE, up 0.5%
- Spain's Ibex up 0.3%
- Italy's FTSE MIB up 0.16%
- Portugal PSI20 bucked the trend and is closing lower by -0.2%.
In the benchmark 10 year note sector, yields are ending mixed. Below are the changes and ranges for the day:

- Spot gold is up $9.18 or 0.75% at $1227.22
- WTI crude oil is unchanged at $71.35
In the US stock market, the indices have recovered from lower levels with the Nasdaq lagging and still down. The S&P has moved back into the black:
- S&P index is up 1.86 points or 0.07% at 2769
- Nasdaq is down -21 points or -0.28% at 7474
- Dow is up 82 points or 0.31%
US yields are little changed at current levels:
In the forex market, the NZD is now the strongest currency, taking over from the CHF at the NY session start. The USD remains the weakest, and weaker than earlier levels (see earlier levels here).
