10 year yields down/little changed in Europe

The major stock indices in Europe are ending the session with gains but off the highs.

  • German Dax rose 0.5%.
  • France's CAC rose 0.7%
  • UK's FTSE rose 0.8%
  • Spain's IMAX rose 1.0%
  • Italy's FTSE MIB rose 0.15%
  • Portugal's PSI 20 rose 0.17%

In the 10 year notes, yields are down/little changed.

  • Germany 0.652%, unchanged
  • France 0.933%, unchanged
  • UK 1.51%, -1.1 basis point
  • Spain 1.557%, -4 basis points
  • Italy 2.018%, -4.9 basis points
  • Portugal 2.00%, -3.3 basis points
  • Greece 4.405%, +0.9 basis points

The US stock indices are trading higher., The indices are moving back toward their session highs:

  • S&P index +16.5 points or 0.6% at 2763.90
  • NASDAQ composite index is up 50.79 points or 0.69% at 7388
  • Dow industrial average is up 232 points or 0.9% 25541

Yields in the US are lower but off their low levels for the day

  • two-year 2.2139%, -2.4 basis points
  • five-year 2.596%, -2.1 basis points
  • 10 year 2.847%, -1.8 basis points
  • 30 year 3.142%, -1.3 basis points

Spot gold is trading up $3 or 0.23% at $1331.80

WTI crude oil futures are trading up $.46 or 0.72% at $64.03

Bitcoin is moving higher today. It is currently trading up $612 at $10,204 on the Coinbase exchange.

The snapshot of the forex market as London/European traders look to exit shows the NZD remains the weakest currency and the CAD remains the weakest (same as at the start of the day. The USD has moved more to the upside, with gains vs the CHF, and CAD and down vs the NZD, and EUR. The GBP, JPY and AUD are trading near unchanged.
