Gains for the week too
The European major indices are ending with good gains for the day.
- Euro Stoxx 600 is ending up 0.6% on the day. This is a 21 month high.
- UK FTSE is up 0.6%
- France's Cac rose by 1.01%. The close is a 9 1/2 year high.
- Germany's Dax is up 0.55% and closed at a new record high
- Spain's Ibex advanced by 1.0%. The close is a 21 month high.
- Italy's FTSE MIB is up by 1.32%
For the week
- UK FTSE is ending up 0.83%
- France Cac is up 3.05%
- Germany's Dax is up 2.19%
- Spain's Ibex is up 4.23%
- Italy's FTSE MIB is up 4.3%
The French elections are of course a focus this weekend with Macron holding a lead over Le Pen (63% to 37% in the latest IFOP poll). The CAC gapped on the 1st round elections. This week the index closed at 9 1/2 year highs. At 5432.40, the index is still a bit away from the 2007 high at 6168.15.
