Latest data released by Eurostat - 16 August 2018
- Prior €16.9 billion
- Non-seasonally adjusted trade balance €22.5 billion
- Prior €16.5 billion
Looking at the details, imports increased by 8.6% in June while exports were 5.7% higher. The data here isn't a major one in terms of the figures itself as we already had French and German figures earlier in the month.
Of note, exports to the US increased by 3.9% in 1H 2018 while imports fell by 2.4%. That means that the trade surplus between the EU and US just got wider. That's not going to be music to Trump's ears.
