Latest data released by Markit - 6 April 2018

  • Prior 52.3
  • Germany retail PMI 51.5 vs 53.8 prior
  • France retail PMI 50.0 vs 51.8 prior

More soggy readings for Eurozone data. The headline and France's reading is the lowest in a year, while Germany's print is the lowest in five months.

Some comments by Alex Gill, an economist at Markit:

"The March data highlight a disappointing month for the eurozone retail sector, with like-for-like sales stagnating since February, and sales firmly down on an annual basis. The weaker trend was seen across the "big-three‟ eurozone economies, with indices ticking down on these two metrics in each instance".

EUR/USD back up to 1.2233 now as the dollar gives up some of its earlier gains. EUR/GBP at 0.8735 still range-bound. EUR/CHF at 1.1784 also range-bound on the day.
