FED: The latest step in the appeals process also went against the Fed
today but the central bank’s effort to keep secret the names of the
banks that borrowed from its discount window under special terms during
the crisis is likely to continue, tho no formal Fed reaction yet. The US
Court of Appeals basically told the Fed that if it thinks the names
should be kept secret it needs to get Congress to write that requirement
into law. Without that, Bloomberg and Fox News should be able to ask for
the information, the judge said.
