–Fed Chair to Testify on Economic Outlook
–CBO Chief Elmendorf to Testify Feb 1 on New CBO Budget, Econ Report

WASHINGTON (MNI) – Federal Reserve Board Chair Ben Bernanke will
travel to Capitol Hill Feb. 2 to testify before the House Budget
Committee on the U.S. economic outlook.
Bernanke will testify before the House Budget Committee at 10:00
a.m. EST and is likely to be asked to assess the state of the U.S.
recovery, the key challenges facing American fiscal policy, the economic
impact of Europe’s economic and political struggles, and the Fed’s
recent conduct of monetary policy.
Bernanke is expected to testify later in February before the Senate
Banking and House Financial Services Committees on the Fed’s semi-annual
monetary policy report, but the date has not been announced.
The House Budget Committee said Congressional Budget Office
Director Doug Elmendorf will testify on Feb. 1, on the CBO’s new
economic and budget report which will be released Jan. 31.
Elmendorf’s testimony before the House Budget Committee will also
begin at 10:00 a.m.
