S&P 500 up 0.5 points

The S&P 500 today is hovering close to unchanged. The index touched a record 2405.77 immediately after the open but has slipped back to 2403.00.

In equities, Home Depot had its earnings call today and tapped into a couple themes I've been following. First is online sales. They said they were up 23% in Q1. That underscores the tremendous growth online and collapsing market for traditional retail. Home Depot is insulated from that because they sell many bulky things are tough to sell online but for others, it's a death sentence.

The other was housing. Comps were up 8% in April, adjusting for seasonality. They say that housing is a growing asset class and was especially strong in the US. Shares of the company rose 1.8%.
