CNBC reports Welsh has died
Legendary GE CEO Jack Welsh has died, according to CNBC.
Welsh turned GE into the most-valuable company in the US during his tenure before retiring in 2001. The events of 9/11 along with later problems at GE Capital during the crisis hurt the company and his legacy, but he inspired a generation of leaders.
There's no word on the cause but he was tweeting early in the year.
